The client reported an intermittent sewer gas odor in the home. Upon inspection, the smell was strongest in the downstairs bathroom. Our technician found a failing Studor vent, which was identified as the likely source of the issue. At the client’s request, we also pulled and reset the toilet, discovering a slow leak at the wax seal, which was then replaced using a client-provided seal. The faulty Studor vent was also replaced. Additionally, we checked the pressure tank, which is functioning but original to the home and past its typical lifespan—preventative replacement was recommended, and options were sent to the client.
